Shapes that show your bump
- Fitted at the bust, flowing below: an empire waist sits above your bump and lets the skirt fall around it, which shows your shape in profile.
- Floor-length skirts: a maxi skirt — especially one with a slightly longer back — adds movement and drama to standing poses.
- Open shoulders: off-shoulder and sweetheart necklines frame your face in close-ups.
Fabrics that come alive on camera
Lace adds texture you can see in close-ups. Tulle and mesh and chiffon catch the breeze and move when you walk or twirl. Satin has a soft sheen that glows in evening light, and sequins sparkle in studio or golden-hour shots.
Match your color to the setting
- Fields and meadows: white, ivory, champagne and blush look soft and warm.
- Beaches and lakes: light blue, sky blue and white feel fresh against water and sky.
- Forests and fall leaves: wine red, deep green and rust look rich.
- Studios and city spots: bold colors like fuchsia, royal blue, red or black stand out.

Plan the fit for the shoot date

- Flat sandals or ballet flats are easiest on sand, grass and rocks.
- Bring a soft wrap for cooler evenings between shots.
