Fabric and texture

A fine, soft mesh in a solid, light sky blue that is close to baby blue: gentle rather than bright, nowhere near as deep as royal blue, and with no purple or green cast. The surface is matte, picking up a gentle sheen in brighter light, and the maker lists the mesh as high-stretch. Over the body the mesh is layered over a lining, so it is not sheer there; the lining is cut slightly shorter than the mesh, so a narrow band of single-layer sheer mesh finishes the hem. The streamer is one semi-sheer layer finished with continuous wavy ruffles along its edges, and the only other shaping comes from the gathers at the left shoulder and the ruching along the side seams.

How long is this dress, and is there a slit?

It is an ankle-length maxi with no slit: in our photos the fitted skirt falls straight to the ankle without flaring at the hem or touching the floor, and the ruffled streamer falls to around the ankle too. The lining stops a little above the hem, so the last narrow band at the bottom is a single sheer layer of mesh, as the front and chest-down views show. Your height changes where the hem lands, so check the length for your size in the size chart on this page.

What are the neckline, shoulders and back like?

The neckline runs on a diagonal from under your right arm up to your left shoulder, where the mesh is gathered into a small cluster with fine pleats fanning across the bust; your right shoulder and arm stay bare, and there are no sleeves. From that gathered shoulder, a ruffled streamer falls with one length in front and one behind, hanging free of the skirt so it lifts as you move. At the back, a straight top edge sits at about underarm height with the upper back bare, and one thin strap runs from the left shoulder to the right side of the back.
